Balanced Self

We offer a holistic approach to well-being and mental health, by combining CBT and Yoga practices.

At Balanced Self we believe that the mind and body must be understood as one entity.

We use CBT therapy, yoga or a combination of both to alleviate symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety to boost your self esteem and confidence so you are able to get back to yourself.

Balanced Self aims to help their clients become more flexible in their body and mind and to build a relationship with their thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them.

CBT Therapist

Sara is qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and also has a Masters in Health Psychology from The University of Nottingham. She is currently provisionally accredited by the British Association for Behaviour and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). This means that Sara is supervised weekly and keeps up to date with current CBT practices.

Sara has over 5 years experience working within the NHS in Mental Health Primary Care settings. Sara has focused  on client groups with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety disorders.

Her specialist area of interest is in low self-esteem, stress, sleep and long term physical health conditions (IBS, pain). She has also additional complementary training in Third Wave CBT approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

She is passionate about the mind-body connection and helps clients feel more connected and rooted into their everyday experiences.

 Yoga Teacher

Sara was initially drawn to yoga in her late twenties and after a few years it became more than just a physical outlet, as it brought awareness and stillness to her mental and spiritual state. Through yoga practice Sara has discovered that she is able to lead a content and connected life, and can help others to do the same.

Sara has undergone 200 hours of Yoga teacher training in Thailand and further developed her practice with restorative teacher training under Anna Ashby of Triyoga a couple of years later.

Sara’s classes focus on alignment-based sequences that integrate elements of CBT, meditation and movement in sync with breath.

Sara continues to develop her yoga practice and will always be a lifelong yoga student and practitioner at heart.
